President-Blyth Swartsfager

          

 

Graduating from East Texas State  with a degree in Communications, Blyth worked in Broadcasting and Banking/Finance.  Blyth frequently volunteered for children's programs and realized that education was the real key to the future. She has been in education for over 15 years.  She currently teaches fourth grade, and continues to volunteer with UIL events and after school programs.

 

Vice President-Marie Koubek  

In nursing for over 30 years, Marie holds a registry license in nursing, invasive cardiology, and correctional health nursing in jail division. She played the accordion in a Czech band for three years and is currently working as Director of Health in the industrial field of nursing. Marie still plays the accordion and volunteers in her church. Her favorite pastimes include snow skiing, hunting, and reading.

 

Secretary-Karen Escarzaga
 

 

   After 30 years of service with Southwestern Bell, Karen retired and enjoys being at home with her family. With   time on her hands, she recently started working at the Education Service Center downtown and has come to enjoy meeting new friends and learning new skills. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family, reading,    and making blankets for her grandchildren.


 

Treasurer-Nancy Schmidt
 

 A retired U.S. Diplomat, she and her husband have operated an International Consulting Company for 13 years since retirement.  Nancy makes blankets for Driscoll Children's Hospital and she and her husband volunteer to pick up trash along the beaches.  A favorite past time is reading and continuing her degrees in Holistic Medicine and Nutrition.
